| Proposed site-specific management measures for SACs that informed Option 1 |
Proposed site-specific management measures for Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) that informed Option 1 - Proposed Fisheries Management Measures for Inshore Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Proposed Priority Marine Feature (PMF) Management Areas in Scottish Waters Consultation – 2026 The proposed fisheries management measures have been developed individually for each designation, Nature Conservation Marine Protected Areas (NCMPAs), Special Areas of Conservation (SACS) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs) using the best available scientific evidence on the potential impacts of different types of fishing gear on protected features. The development of these measures involved significant engagement with stakeholders, including the fishing industry and environmental organisations. NCMPAs, SACs and SPAs can be collectively referred to as MPAs. The public consultation on proposed fisheries management measures includes 76 inshore MPAs, forming a key part of the collaborative policy development process. SACs - which are protected areas for habitats and species listed in the EU Habitats Directive, such as reefs and bottlenose dolphin. The EU Habitats Directive sets out a requirement for the designation of SACs to protect certain species and habitats listed in Annexes I and II. Since leaving the EU these requirements have been transposed into regulations which cover Scotland’s land and seas;
These site-specific management measures may differ from site information in the consultation documentation and on the consultation platform. We have amalgamated some proposed overlapping measures into the MPA maps and highlighted where other possible overlapping measures for specific gear types may occur. When looking at sites individually, where there is an overlap for specific gear types, it would be the highest proposed measure that could apply in that overlap that would apply. We are hoping to have more intuitive layers available throughout consultation that would show individual polygons with all overlapping information included. |
| Proposed site-specific management measures for NCMPAs that informed Option 2 |

The following data has been made available: Proposed site-specific management measures for NCMPAs that informed Option 2 - Proposed Fisheries Management Measures for Inshore Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Proposed Priority Marine Feature (PMF) Management Areas in Scottish Waters Consultation - 2026 NCMPAs are sites within the marine environment, designated under sections 67 and 68 of the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010, aimed at conserving marine biodiversity, protecting vulnerable species, habitats, and geological features. The sites have been designated following MPA selection guidelines and assigned site specific conservation objectives. The Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 provides for the designation of NCMPAs in Scottish inshore waters. They are selected using the UK SPA Selection Guidelines, and in Scotland they are classified under the Birds Directive through the following domestic legislation:

| Aquaculture - Planning Zones for Marine Fish Farming - Illustrative (hidden below 1:50,000) - July 2025 |
Marine planning zones set out the boundaries for local planning authorities responsibilities for planning controls of marine fish and shellfish farms in Scottish waters. The Town and Country Planning (Marine Fish Farming) (Scotland) Order 2007 as amended by The Town and Country Planning (Marine Fish Farming) (Scotland) Amendment Order 2025 describes marine planning zone boundaries for each designated planning authority. |

| Fishing - Scottish Under 12m vessels - Other gears - Annual average value (2017-2021) (£) |
Owners or masters of Scottish fishing vessels under 12m overall length must declare a latitude and longitude position (DD MM) on each fishing day indicating where the majority of the catch was taken. This data has been recorded since 2016 for vessels submitting Fish 1 forms and from 2018 onwards for vessels submitting paper logbooks. This dataset aggregates the positions declared between 2017 and 2021, along with the associated catch weight and values, into C-Squares of 0.05 x 0.05 decimal degrees. The data is grouped into sectors of This data includes catches of razor clams up until 1st February 2018. Since this date, only vessels involved in the scientific trial can land razor clams. Data will be published on these vessels once the trial is complete. |
