Limits and Boundaries
Limits cover the various boundaries defined by domestic legislation and often based on international conventions, for example, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). Various data layers are available, which include: 3, 6, 12 nautical miles as measured from the baselines of the Territorial Sea; the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) for both Scotland and neighbouring countries; Continental Shelf Limits; Scottish Adjacent Waters Boundary; Civil Jurisdiction (Offshore Activities) boundary; Renewable Energy Zone & Gas Importation and Storage Zone Limits; and the Scottish Marine Regions Order 2015 which defines the areas used for regional marine planning.
