Clean and Safe

Marine Scotland has a vision for Scottish Seas to deliver sustainable economic growth through "clean, healthy, safe, productive, biologically diverse marine coastal environments, managed to meet the long term needs of the nature and people"

The Clean and Safe seas section of Marine Scotland Information covers the various components that are measured to ensure that the seas are clean and safe: including the inputs of natural substances and man-made contaminants. The information is derived mainly from the monitoring programmes of Marine Scotland and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
