Ports, harbours, marinas and boat access locations (OSCP) - May 2016 (Zoom restricted) |
This layer contains a point dataset depicting ports, harbours and boat access locations (slips), developed for use in oil spill contingency planning at a scale of 1:250,000. Only harbours listed in the annual Scottish transport statistics are listed as ports. For Clyde, Forth and Orkney, ports collated under these terms are included as ports.
This map layer is NOT for navigation, only for use at scales of 1:250,000 or smaller.

Coastal petroleum facilities and power station water intakes (OSCP) - May 2016 (Zoom restricted) |
This layer displays a point dataset depicting coastal petroleum facilities and power stations with seawater intakes, developed for use in oil spill contingency planning at a scale of 1:250,000. Locations of coastal petroleum sites were derived from industry information compared with Ordnance Survey maps. Power stations were identified by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) Digest of UK Energy Statistics (DUKES) report 2015 with intake location taken from Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA)'s coastal abstraction data. Two additional sites were identified at Invergordon and Sullom Voe via company websites.

Shellfish Water Protected Areas (OSCP) |
This layer contains the locations of shellfish growing waters designated in line with the Shellfish Waters Directive (2006/113/EC) by Scottish Government under The Water Environment (Shellfish Water Protected Areas: Designation) (Scotland) Order 2013. Waters are used for commercial shellfish cultivation. Water quality in designated areas is regularly monitored by SEPA.

Spring mean peaks - Waders (WeBS 2010) (OSCP) - December 2015 (Zoom restricted) |
Based on the Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) this layer shows the mean peak numbers of Waders in Spring (Apr – Jun). The points represent lengths of coastline, with the size of the point related to the number of birds. The data is derived from the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) 2010 and provided by RS Environmental Ltd for use in oil spill contingency planning.
The data should not be replicated or released without permission of RS Environmental Ltd.

Wave renewable energy sites (operational or under construction) (OSCP) |
The Crown Estate has entered into agreements for lease for both tidal and wave power, these are areas for potential commercial projects. The projects have a potential capacity of up to 1,600 MW in the Pentland Firth and Orkney waters. This layer displays the wave renewable energy sites that are already either operational or under construction.

Seal Management Areas (OSCP) |
On 31 January 2011, Part 6 of the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 came into force. Part 6 seeks to balance seal conservation with sustainable fisheries and aquaculture and its introduction means: It is an offence to kill or injure a seal except under licence or for welfare reasons, outlawing unregulated seal shooting that was permitted under previous legislation A number of seal conservation areas around Scotland will begin to be introduced, designed to protect vulnerable, declining common seal populations A new seal licensing system, providing a well regulated and monitored context for seal management in Scotland has been introduced. Seal Management Areas are: East Coast, Moray Firth, Orkney and North Coast, Shetland, South West Scotland, West Scotland, Western Isles.

Wind renewable energy sites (operational or under construction) (OSCP) |
The UK Offshore Energy Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), published in January 2009, identified up to 33 GW of potential offshore wind capacity in UK waters. This formed the basis of the Round 3 offshore wind programme. This layer displays the offshore wind energy sites around Scotland that are either fully operational or under construction.

Based on the Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) this layer shows the mean peak numbers of Waders in Autumn (Jul – Oct). The points represent lengths of coastline, with the size of the point related to the number of birds. The data is derived from the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) 2010 and provided by RS Environmental Ltd for use in oil spill contingency planning.

Active aquaculture sites (OSCP) (Zoom Restricted) (23.09.2019) |
This layer contains point data identifying the location of active finfish or shellfish farms around Scotland from the Fish Health Inspectorate Aquadat database. This includes fishery sites which are ponds or other installation where farmed fish are stocked for recreational fishing (either private or commercial). Active is the status of a site that is stocked or fallow with the intention of restocking in the foreseeable future.
Spatial Data is extracted from the Aquadat database maintained by the Fish Health Inspectorate of Marine Scotland. The point data online is regularly updated via an XML update.
