Salmon Fishery Statistical Region boundaries were derived by Scottish Government Marine Scotland from Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) Catchment boundaries, Institute of Hydrology 1:50,000 DTM data and the Salmon Fisheries (Scotland) Act 1868, with some input from District Salmon Fishery Boards.

This data was originally captured to help map the waterways for the production of our Statutory Planning Consultee buffer, using OS Landline and 1:10,000 mapping. This data was then edited and corrected by British Waterways to OS Landline and is now maintained by Scottish Canals. The data was divided into kilometre lengths each with a unique reference ID.
