Salmon Rivers in Scotland (2008), produced by Scottish Government Marine Scotland Science with information from Fisheries Trusts and other sources. The 2008 digital salmon rivers data was produced from the earlier salmon distribution map (Gardiner and Egglishaw, 1986) along with new information from Fisheries Trusts and other sources. The collated data were coded on to Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) 1:50,000 digital rivers data. Gardiner, R. and Egglishaw, H. (1986). The data can be shared on request if a user provides evidence that they hold a licence from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) for the 1:50,000 Digital River Network.

This dataset depicts restrictions on ALL FISHING defined by EU, UK and Scottish legislation since 1986. Polygons were simplified for web use and are for illustrative purposes only. Guidance should be sought from Fishery Offices on interpreting legislation.

Category 1, 2 and 3 areas are designated on the basis of Marine Scotland predictive models to estimate environmental sensitivity of sea lochs. The maps describe the Category 1, 2 and 3 areas for the Scottish Government Locational Guidelines, designated on the basis of Marine Scotland Science predictive modelling to estimate nutrient enhancement and benthic impact in sea lochs or similar water bodies supporting aquaculture. The sum of these indices was used for the categorisation of areas as indicated: Combined 'nutrient enhancement' and 'benthic impact' indices 7 - 10 (Category 1), 5 - 6 (Category 2), 0 - 4 (Category 3).
