Marine Scotland is responsible for leading delivery of the Scottish Government’s marine vision of “clean, healthy, safe, productive and biologically diverse marine and coastal environment, managed to meet the long term needs of nature and people” . At its heart are the purpose of sustainable economic growth and the protection of the marine environment.
Marine Scotland collaborated with Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), Joint Nature Conservancy Committee (JNCC) and Marine Alliance for Science and Technology Scotland) (MASTS) to prepare Scotland’s Marine Atlas: Information for the National Marine Plan (2011). The collaboration continues to oversee the necessary assessments required to implement marine planning as well as other reporting. This is achieved through the content of National Marine Plan interactive (NMPi).
